Fundholder Background.

Kim, a mother of three children who have attended (and are currently attending) schools within the FSUSD, knows how important it is to have the tools and supplies needed for their education. Her daughter was fortunate enough to be the first class of the Early College Program at Rodriguez High School.  She knows first-hand that they were always in need of additional funds for clubs, classroom supplies and fundraiser expenses for events.  Kim recalls that funding was a challenge throughout the district, and that her son’s field trip at Dan O’ Root was canceled due to lack of funding needed to supply the transportation.  She remembers the excitement in his young voice when he told her about his field trip; then, when the trip was canceled, she remembers the look of being let down in his eyes and the feeling of disappointment he and his fellow classmates felt.  What burdened Kim even more than the letting her son down was hearing how her son had to listen to his teacher explain how she tried desperately to raise the funds, only to fall short.

From this very sad event, a seed was planted and continued to burn within Kim Liew. She knew then, that it was her mission to help alleviate and/or lift any financial burdens our educators may have to endure. However big or small her contributions may be, she is determined to give back to the community she lives in and serves.
