ARMIJO CLASS OF 1965 FUND

In March 2013 Fundholder authority for the Armijo Class of 65 Memorial Scholarship Fund was transferred to the Armijo Alumni Association, Inc.  The existing fund balance was used to create a sub-fund with a new name, "Armijo Class of 1965 Fund."  The Armijo Alumni Association, Inc. Fund is now the "parent" fund of this class-year fund.  The Alumni Association, with the services of Assist-A-Grad, makes scholarship awards to Armijo High School students .  Monies donated to the Alumni Association parent fund for a specific class year, are held and managed in separate class-year sub-funds.
According to the founding donor, R. Scott Chalmers, “this fund was created to be a living and growing fund that will help keep Class of 1965 scholarship awards alive and funded way past our time!” The hopes are that all alumni from this class will continue to make contributions.

FUND HISTORY & PURPOSE

The 1965 graduating class of Armijo High School wanted to honor and remember their classmate, Fay King, who died in 2009. They established an endowed scholarship fund in her name at the Solano Community Foundation,  “in the memory of a lady who made a difference in all of our lives.”
The name of the fund was changed in December 2010 from "Armijo Class of 65's Fay King Memorial Scholarship Endowment" to the "Armijo Class of 65's Memorial Scholarship Fund" to also memorialize and reflect the participation and contributions of all Armijo Class of '65 classmates.
